OOGLE over GOOGLE 411

Friday, September 21st, 2007

More and more people are dialing into 411 every month and are becoming disgusted with the hit their monthly wireless bill takes from each call. This is due in part from AT&T and other carriers charging around $1.80 per 411 call leaving customers wondering why has this service not been provided as an included package? Or, at the very least, a flat monthly fee? How about getting the same information for free, and available in 3 different flavors?
Welcome Google 411 (1-800-GOOG-411).
The new service from Google gives the wireless user the ability to find any business (currently residential is not available) free of charge, and free of the headaches of talking to a person who can’t understand you. Yeah, the automated person on GOOG 411 sometimes has trouble understanding you too, but at least he doesn’t get attitude.
Google 411 shines in its ability to present the listing in 3 different ways - SMS, dialing direct, and mapping it. Most users will opt for the direct dial. But for those of us who are always looking for the same place, but can’t ever remember the number, the SMS is the way to go. Just say “text message” and the listing will be sent via SMS to your phone where it can then be easily added to your contacts. Lastly, mapping it (say “Map it”) will send a map of the listing to your web enabled phone.
If you are big fan of the Google products, using Google SMS, or are tired of those high 411 charges on your wireless bill, then this may be the product for you.

JC&C Billboard is up ay Mackey Stadium

Friday, September 21st, 2007

It is up and in full living color above the concessions on the South End Zone Bleachers. Hopefully, you will notice that the color scheme matches the H1 we have rolling around. It also displays our 5 Reno, Sparks, and Carson City AT&T Locations. There is a 6th location that is covered up. We expect to have it opened soon followed by an unveilling. I think all of the UNR students will find it VERY convenient!

Mac + Wireless Phone “iSyncing”

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

If you are a Mac user, and these days there are a lot of you. You know how difficult it is to find a wireless phone that can iSync, and most times asking your local wireless rep leads to little to no help.

Worry no more, Apple has released a new Compatible Devices sheet to help ease the trouble of finding the perfect handset to compliment your Mac. Many of the phones listed are older devices, however, there are a handful of current cingular (at&t) wireless devices available right now at our Northern Nevada Locations. These include the Motorola SLVR, RAZR v3, and v3i, along with one of the most popular phones in the market, the Sony Ericsson w810i. Even the popular Cingular 8125 Windows Smartphone will iSync with the purchase of the appropriate 3rd party software mark/space.
