Calling Abroad from the U.S.
Direct Dial Countries
Simply dial "1" + the area code then the phone number for calls to Canada, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and other Caribbean countries. You do not need to call Customer Service before dialing these countries. Accrued charges will appear on your monthly bill.
All Other Countries
To place an international call to all other countries from the U.S., dial 011 + country code + city/area code (if required) + local number.

You can use your phone while traveling in Canada and much of the Caribbean, with no additional feature required. Roaming charges may apply, depending on your rate plan.
Know Before You Go
International roaming and long distance service at pay-per-use rates is a feature included with AT&T wireless service, and may be automatically provisioned on eligible customers' lines of service.* However, before calling or traveling abroad:
- Determine if your wireless device will operate in the country you are visiting.
Tip: To ensure the broadest coverage, a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900) devices is recommended. To roam in Japan or South Korea, a 3G device that operates at 2100 MHz is required. - Visit or call one of our locations to verify international roaming service is activated (or you may request it be blocked).
Tip: Take advantage of AT&T World Traveler and get calling rates as low as $0.99 per minute when traveling to most of Western Europe. A Data package is highly recommended, especially for laptop customers. - Learn how to call home when traveling abroad..
Tip: It's easy to call or send a text message back to the U.S. Simply dial: "+" (1) (10-digit number).

Data Global Add-Ons for Smartphones, PDAs, Blackberry® and iPhone
Keep up with email and browse the Web with your Smartphone, PDA, BlackBerry or iPhone** when you travel abroad. AT&T has created Data Global Add-Ons with lower rates in over 90 countries. Discounted Countries are subject to change. There are four packages available:
- $24.99/month: 20 MB Data Global Add-On gives you 20 MB of usage within over 90 countries
- $59.99/month: 50 MB Data Global Add-On gives you 50 MB of usage within over 90 countries
- $119.99/month: 100 MB Data Global Add-On* gives you 100 MB of usage within over 90 countries
- $199.99/month: 200 MB Data Global Add-On* gives you 200 MB of usage within over 90 countries
20 MB Data Global Add-On
Overage rate is $0.005/KB within the over 90 discounted countries. Rate outside these discounted countries is $0.0195/KB. Does not include data usage within the U.S. Qualified domestic plan required.
50 MB Data Global Add-On

Take your laptop with you for all of your data needs when you're traveling outside the U.S. This plan includes:
- 5 gigabytes (GB) of domestic U.S. usage with $0.00048/KB overage.
- Up to 100 MB of data usage per month in the table of DataConnect Global
- $0.005/KB (approximately $5/MB) overage rate in the set of DataConnect Global countries (on select carriers).
- $0.0195/KB rate in all other countries where AT&T currently has data roaming agreements.
- Access to 3G(UMTS)/EDGE/GPRS where available based upon device capability and network capability.
- One-year minimum term required for this plan.
+AT&T also imposes a monthly Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge of up to $1.25 to help defray costs incurred in complying with state and federal telecom regulations, state and federal Universal Service Charges, and surcharges for customer-based and revenue-based state and local assessments on AT&T. These are not taxes or government-required charges.
DataConnect Global Plan+ $229.99 per month

- $0.0195/KB rate in all other countries where AT&T currently has data roaming agreements.
